In this module, you will be introduced to protected health information (PHI), penalties applicable for releasing PHI, and HIPAA compliance standards for confidentiality of medical records. This module will increase your awareness so that you do not, as a medical transcriptionist, intentionally or otherwise, violate Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) norms.
